While Volkswagen may be most widely known for the Beetle or even the Golf, our sedans are actually our most popular vehicles in America when it comes to overall sales. But, before you lump the Jetta in with every other entry-level sedan on the market, there are some things that separate the Jetta from the pack that you may not have known. To help shed some light on the features of our most popular model, here are 5 things you didn’t know about the Volkswagen Jetta.
Rearview Camera is standard on all trim levels.
Whether you opt for a Jetta S, a Jetta SE, a Jetta SEL, or a Jetta Sport, you will be equipped with the proverbial “eyes in the back of your head” as all Jettas are now equipped with a rearview camera to assist you when you are backing up.
The Jetta is an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus for the 3rd straight year.
Every year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety releases their list of safest vehicles on the road, or their top safety picks. On the top of that list, you will find the top safety pick plus category for vehicles that have exceeded their standards in every facet of inspection. While making their list is normal for Volkswagen, being a Top Safety Pick Plus is getting to be a regular thing for the Jetta.
CarNet App Connect and USB Connectivity come standard.
We live in a connected society. As a consumer, you want access to your music, your apps, your friends and network. To provide that, we offer our Car Net App Connect as well as USB connectivity to make sure you can be plugged in. For us, this isn’t just a matter of convenience, it is a matter of safety as it allows you to function from our touchscreen instead of having to look down at your phone.
The Jetta comes equipped with a 150 horse power engine.
One of the big upgrades on the 2016 Jetta was moving to a 150 horse power, turbo-charged engine. This was an upgrade from the previous 115 horse power engine of years past. The upgrade makes for greater performance, and quite frankly, makes the Jetta more fun to drive.
Blind spot monitor and rear traffic alert available on SEL models or higher.
With a longstanding reputation for safety, we work hard to live up to that reputation, especially when it comes to integrating safety with technology. One of those integrations is out blind spot monitor, which alerts you that there is someone you can’t see if you are attempting to change lanes or would somehow end up in the path of the other vehicle. The rear traffic alert is especially helpful in busy parking lots. If you are backing out of a space and can’t see past the cars on either side of you, it will alert you if a vehicle is approaching.
These features, combined with so many more, are why the Jetta continues to grow in popularity. If you are in the market for an entry-level sedan, please contact a member of our team to learn more about what Southpoint Volkswagen and the Jetta have to offer.
